I am impressed, and there’s over 1,000 comments on this TikTok video saying pretty much the same thing.

Badass Diesel Mechanic Chloe Yonker, who goes by @TheCumminsCowGirl on Tik Tok, uploaded a video earlier yesterday (July 23, 2020) showing how she opens a hood of a Peterbilt, a full-size big rig used to pull tractor trailers down American highways. But, at five foot three inches, commenters previous to this video had their doubts.

Well, not anymore.

Check out this masterclass in Peterbilt hood opening below.

I’ll never know how people come up with some of these questions ? ##peterbilt ##femaletech ##girlmechanic ##fyp

This honestly looks like an AP Physics or first year Engineering student’s end-of-the-chapter homework problem brought to life. If you can draw out a legit force body diagram with all the correct forces and their directions, I’ll assume it’s legit, add it to this blog post below, and Venmo you for your efforts. Comment below.

Any way, a full size truck hood, especially on these older models, seriously weight a couple hundred pounds. Sure, you have hydraulic hood struts but, opening the hood from a dead start is no simple task.

As one commenter said,

“No one has a better understanding of the physics of leverage than people under 5’5”

The hood is so tall that Chloe has to use a hidden foot step underneath the license plate to reach the top of the hood. Then, with a heave of her body weight and a kick with her other leg, she sends as much energy as she can perpendicular to the center of the hood, just enough for the hydraulic struts to take over. After the hood passes 50 percent open, gravity does the rest.

Impressive stuff.

If you like her vibe and are inspired by her badass-ness, I recommend adding her on Instagram, too.

She is legit as they come and Ican’t wait to see what other content she puts out for Diesel Mechanic Tik Tok.
