There are now 599 Civic Type R LEs left in the United States.

There’s good news and bad news for Honda Civic Type R LE owners. The good news is your Type R LEs are now worth more. The bad news is it’s because one of them burned to a crisp.

An IAAI.com listing recently popped up showcasing a completely burned 2021 Honda Civic Type R LE. Not only is this probably the first burned Civic Type R LE, it’s the first wrecked Civic Type R LE.

Here are photos of what once was below.

Civic Type R LE burned

Looking at the photos, there’s almost nothing left. The only parts that survived, minus the chassis, are metal pieces like wheels, coil springs, hard lines, brake calipers, and perhaps the seat rails.

The listing doesn’t mince words, cause of damage, total burn.

As forgone as it looks. I wouldn’t be surprised if someone actually bids on this charred shell.

If this were any other burned 10th gen Civic, I wouldn’t waste my time writing out this post.

Not only is it a Civic Type R, it’s one of 1,020 Limited Editions made and one of 600 that made it to the United States.

To justify its Limited Edition badges, Honda gave this Type R lighter wheels, grippier tires, stripped 28 pounds of sound deadening, and tweaked steering and suspension programming to take advantage of the aforementioned weight savings.

Researching (clicking through Facebook posts) about this particular burned Civic Type R LE and I came across how it got burned in this first place.

Apparently, the owner (the one making payments) went on a fishing trip and, upon returning to his Civic Type R LE, found out it caught fire.

It’s worth noting, before this unfortunate incident, he’d advertised his Civic Type R LE for sale, explaining how he could no longer keep up with payments.

Looking to get out of these payments” he said.

Would love to stay in it and enjoy it, but I absolutely cannot due to the cash flow not being what it was and continues to slow down.

I’ll let you put two and two together, the fire incident and how he couldn’t keep up with payments.

Honda gave the Civic Type R LE a $43,995 MSRP. It looks like this (former) Civic Type R LE owner agreed to a $16,005 markup, not an uncommon story with Type Rs in general.

Are you buying his fishing story? Do you think someone will eventually bid on this burned shell? Let me know in the comments below.
