Here’s what Honda recommends you put in your Civic.

The Honda Civic remains Honda’s best-selling car and for good reason, it’s reliable, more spacious than ever, and cheap on the wallet.

While the Civic is a basic car, it’s grown increasingly complex under the hood with turbocharged engines, direct injection, and Si models tuned for more sport over other trims.

Does Honda’s improved and more powerful engines mean they require premium fuel?

Not necessarily.

You’ll be happy to know that most Civic trim levels are happy with at least 87 octane.

However, if you have an Si model, Sport trim, or have a manual (not a CVT) for model year 2022+, those Civic trim levels require 91+ octane.

I’m going to go through each gen Civic with a screenshot from the actual Honda owner’s manual with what Honda tells you to put in the gas tank.
