It’s safe to assume that detailer’s out of a job.

New 2023 Nissan Z’s are barely making their way to dealership lots across the country and unfortunately it looks like someone’s already wrecked one. “The New Nissan Z” Facebook group member Rubert shared smartphone footage taken in the backlot of the Nissan dealership he works at in Puerto Rico showing an absolutely wrecked 2023 Nissan Z in Rosewood Metallic

Not only did he take video, as the title sort of spoils, he has the backstory, too.

First, here’s the video.

While the majority of North America is just getting their Z’s, according to the New Nissan Z forum, dozens of Z’s have been imported into Puerto Rico as early as July 13 (see thread here.)

Rubert’s video is taken in the rain, foreshadowing the back story behind this particular Z.

The majority of the damage is on the driver’s side fender and door.

While you can see the side curtain airbag deployed, you can safely assume the steering wheel air bag’s popped off too.

As to the cause of this Z’s demise, here’s what Rubert had to say.

Why the Z crashed.

“Car was in the dealer lot and sold, detailing guy decided it was a good idea to push the car in the lot and (while it was) wet. (He) lost control and crashed into a Ram truck.”

As Rubert mentions, this Z was sold, which, if a detailer had has hands on it, it was days away from its new owner.

“Considering how the 350 and 370 were driven, I’m surprised it even took this long, (for one to crash)” AJ Bush humorously points out.

It’s a shame a Z crashed this fast.

When all the insurance issues are sorted out, hopefully someone decides to repair this Z as, while the damage looks pretty bad, possibly including structural and suspension damages, it deserves, at least, an honest assessment from a repair professional.

“I can’t be the only one that sees a perfectly good car that just needs some parts replaced, and she’s a track car now,” Shane Akers comments.

Despite my hopes, something tells me this Z is destined for a Puerto Rican scrape yard.
