How to make a Nissan Z Proto into a six-figure car using one simple trick.

New 2023 Nissan Z’s are already showing up on dealership showroom floors and if this Z’s a sign to come, it’s going to be tough going’s for prospective shoppers. A window sticker for a limited edition 2023 Nissan Z Proto is making the rounds showing this Bellevue, Washington Nissan dealership adding a $73,881 mark-up to the MSRP.

This Z now costs $129,991.

According to Nissan, most new Z’s start out, before destination and handling, at $39,990.

As mentioned, this is a limited edition Proto model equipped with special badging including exclusive interior and exterior features limited to only 240 Protos for the U.S. Market, so they command a $54,915 MSRP.

A quick Google search reveals that, of the dealerships already with Z Protos, while they’ve added the expected ADM, they’re only tacking on an additional $10,000-$20,000.

Adding over $70,000 is ADM on another level.

Here’s this Z’s unofficial window sticker straight from bellevuenissan.com.

And here’s a screenshot of the Z Proto online listing.

I have a feeling this Z’s going to be in their inventory for a loooooong time.

This egregious amount of ADM, as commenters have hinted at, is basically Bellevue Nissan’s way of technically having this Z Proto for sale and not for sale, at the same time.

Bellevue Nissan knows that no one in their right mind would pay that much added mark up and is more than happy to have this Z Proto sit on their showroom floor for as long as they want.

As Redditor Ares1935 puts it, “This is the “Make me sell it” price.”

Other Redditors, myself included, agree.

“That’s exactly what this is, Niiiiick69 comments. “My local ford dealership has an F150 Lightning listed for over $100k and the reason they say it’s that high is because they don’t want to sell it because it’s the first one in the state to hit a dealership, but they’ll sell it to anyone stupid enough to buy it for that price.”

While Z mark-up stories are a relatively new thing, considering most Zs, Protos included, still need to go through their pre-purchase inspections, Nissan’s already said, in regards to a previous Z mark-up situation, they stand behind their MSRP and, on some level, expects their dealerships to, at least, be transparent with their customers regarding pricing.

This is what Nissan said when they found out a dealership was (mistakenly) adding a $50,000 mark-up to a Z.

Our Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) are determined after extensive research to provide the right value proposition for the customer, however the final price of a vehicle is determined by the selling dealer. We expect dealers to be transparent with customers regarding pricing””

One can only wonder what kind of ADM dealerships will add to bog-standard 2023 Zs.
