Wait my turn? Ain’t nobody got time for that.

Redditor and presumed San Diego resident /u/T_4_R posted up a dashcam video he captured in Mira Mesa, California to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a woman exiting the Vallarta Express Mexican restaurant absolutely refusing to yield to traffic with the right of way as she made her way to her turn lane two lanes over.

Check out their video below.

The incident took place near the intersection of Black Mountain Rd. and Mira Mesa Blvd (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

In the dashcam video, we can see our antagonist stopped on the driveway exiting Vallarta Express with traffic coming to a stop on Black Mountain Road. This lady’s intention is to make it to one of the left turn lanes two lanes over.

Often cars with the right of way will stop before a driveway, leaving a space for a car to turn right in front of them if they so wish which, as right of way rules usually go, it’s up to the driver with the right of way to give.

From what I see, it looks OP actually stopped normally with the intention NOT to let the lady in front of them.

Clearly this woman was hellbent to make it across as she squeezed her Camry in front of OP, drove across his lane and the next, and, after running into a San Diego MTS bus already with the right of way driving through the turn lane, stops, blocking two lanes of traffic, their light already green up ahead.

Upset that the Camry driver did not yield properly, OP makes their own mistake, swings his car to go around her without checking his mirrors, and narrowly misses a car driving through.

California Vehicle Section 21804 on Right-of-way states that,

The driver of any vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from any public or private property, or from an alley, shall yield the right-of-way to all traffic, as defined in Section 620, approaching on the highway close enough to constitute an immediate hazard, and shall continue to yield the right-of-way to that traffic until he or she can proceed with reasonable safety.

Per this rule of the road, that Camry driver either should’ve waited until she could see that it was absolutely free and clear to make her across-two-lanes maneuver, or she should’ve just turned right and re-routed accordingly.

Regardless, I feel like if anyone showed this footage to that Camry driver plus a rules-of-the-road refresh about what she did wrong, it still wouldn’t sink in.
