This instant karma was also caught on dashcam.

Presumed New York resident and Redditor /u/STORMinthian shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an impatient Mercedes driver save about 15 seconds by crossing a set of double solid yellow lines, driving into oncoming traffic, only to get pulled over.

OP’s thread is linked here, with a copy of his video posted below.

The incident took place near the intersection of Main St. and Midland Place in Tuckahoe, NY (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As you can see in the video and on Maps, Main St. turns from one lane into two.

We can see a sign that says “Do Not Block Intersection.”

The Mercedes driver, like so many drivers stopping there, can see the left turn lane but, since it’s only one lane at that point, they can’t get to it quite yet.

With an unobstructed view of oncoming traffic, the Mercedes driver risks it, crosses the double yellow line, and drives into oncoming traffic to reach the turn lane.

It shows why this is so dangerous because they almost drive into two cars coming right at them.

Because drivers probably do this all the time, a police cruiser just happens to pull up on the cross street next to Main St. and sees what the Mercedes driver did.

The Mercedes driver is lit up and their morning just got a lot more expensive.

“Homeboy legit needed to wait like 26 seconds and he would have been moving along,” /u/HamsterWheelI comments.

“The fact that traffic starts moving a few seconds after the cop pulls him over is icing on the cake,” /u/HuhWhat90 says.

What that Mercedes driver did is considered Improper Passing.

According to TrafficTickets.com, that Mercedes driver can expect a fine of up to $450 if they’re a repeat offender, all the add-ons and fees associated with that, and three points on their record.

If you’re wondering, that’s a Mercedes GLA, one of the cheapest Mercs in their lineup, starting at $37,500.
