Is this classic Baltimore behavior, where blowing stop signs and running red lights is common place?

Presumed Baltimore resident and Redditor /u/Dial_1800-RACCOON shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the terrifying moment two teens in an allegedly stolen white Honda CR-V blow through an intersection.

They end up T-boning a Dad and daughter traveling through before they run off themselves.

/u/Dial_1800-RACCOON’s thread is linked here with the video embedded below.

The incident happened at the intersection of N. Longwood St. and Gwynns Falls Parkway in Baltimore, MD (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s video shows, traffic including himself are travelling on Gwynns Fall Pkwy, a narrow, two-lane road.

“Captured this a few months ago, probably one of the craziest in 8 or so years of dashcamming,” OP comments.

We can see the lights up ahead turn yellow (the universal sign to prepare to stop) for up to five seconds.

The teens in the white Honda CR-V drive past OP and, instead of slowing, they speed up.

Unbeknownst to them, a father and daughter in a black SUV begins to turn left coming from the opposite direction.

Likely going too fast to stop when their light turns red, they opt to complete their turn and clear the intersection.

It’s an unfortunate timing as they and the teens in the white Honda CR-V collide, the CR-V broadsiding the black SUV.

The black SUV tumbles onto its roof before landing on its side.

“Driver & passenger of the White Honda SUV were both teens, they cut and run out of their car moments later, so I’m guessing it was stolen.”

“The black rolled SUV was a dad and his 1.5-year-old daughter, he got scraped up but she was secured properly in her carseat, so all was well.”

“I stopped and gave a statement to the cops, and got the guy’s info and emailed him a link to the video for his insurance.”

It’s deplorable what those teens did, allegedly stealing a car and then driving recklessly.

This unfortunate accident also points out the importance of risk mitigation and making sure you and your passengers are strapped in as best as possible.

  1. Law officials need to make car jackings and car thief a felony. If you have the knowledge to do the crime, they should be charged as an adult. It’s time for adult crimes equals adult prison time. How many people has to get hurt or killed before officials step up and do what’s right. These teenagers know that they’ll be released back to their parents. This society has taught the youth that they can do whatever they want without consequences.

  2. Every time I’m on the road, almost daily, I see drivers speeding and taking enormous risks to endanger themselves and others? Why are not more police on the roads to moniter situation?

  3. This will stop when parents are held accountable for their children, they teach their children how to be accountable and when the law enforcers hand become untied.

  4. Dori B. We must hold parents accountable for their children’s behavior ! Parents of Repeat offenders must be sentenced to FI ones and mandatory attendance in Parenting Classes. Both parent and minor children be mandated to serve community service hours set by Juvenile Master.
The old “Scared Straight” tours scheduled through adult prisons manned by inmates in the prison system used to help. We have to come up with better ways to resolve our increasing juvenile crime rates.
