Redditors identified the exact BMW M3 in question, plates, VIN number, and all.

Redditor /u/Begel96 was shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a 2008 BMW M3 driving recklessly on the Merritt Parkway in Norwalk, CT abruptly change lane and commit a hit-and-run on a Mini Cooper driving innocently enough in the fast lane.

OP’s thread is linked here, with a copy of the dashcam video embedded below.

The accident happened on I-15 aka The Merritt Parkway in Norwalk, CT right before the Grumman Ave Parkway Bridge (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the video shows, OP is travelling a bit above the speed limit in the fast lane of I-15.

Behind him, a driver in a 2008 BMW M3 in lane number 2 tries to get into the fast lane ASAP.

Seeing an opportunity, the M3 driver gets ready to overtake a Mini Cooper and threads the needle between a closing gap between the Mini and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Not surprisingly, his misjudges the needed space to safely overtake and hits the Mini Cooper’s bumper on the passenger side with the M3’s rear quarter panel.

He just about loses control before he regains traction, overtaking the Subaru in front of him by using the emergency breakdown lane.

He speeds away, completing his hit-and-run.

Redditor /y/JMPopaleetus had a few spare moments and found out the offending BMW’s VIN along with his plate numbers, I’m posting below for search engines to archive for future (and possibly legal) reference.

License Plate- Connecticut BL35544

Make/Model/Mileage – 2008 BMW M3 Convertible with 70,106+ miles.

VIN- WBSWL935X8P330799

“Not a single beat missed between hitting and running,” /u/Lordofthelowend commented.

“I hate the Merritt parkway, especially in Fairfield County,” /u/Balogh46 added.

OP says he hasn’t reported the incident yet, but was encouraged by other Redditors to do so, especially in light of all this added information.

Do you recognize that BMW M3 or know anything about this hit-and-run?

If so, do the right thing and try your best to report it to CT State Police.
