His more than adequate aftermarket horn might’ve saved this driver from costly and unnecessary repairs.
Presumed Colorado resident and Redditor /u/ID1OTpig shared early morning dashcam footage from yesterday (Dec 19, 2023) showing the booty clenching moment a red light runner almost crashed into him, that is before he unleashed the fury that is his aftermarket train horn on them.
Check out /u/ID1OTpig’s dashcam video below.
[oc] Optional redlights strike again

As mentioned, the incident happened in Lafayette, CO at the intersection of US-287 and Dillion Rd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam video shows, we see OP make a left turn onto Dillon Rd.
It’s hard to make out but, as this closeup on Google Maps shows, the green light is a protected-left turn.
Mid-way through his turn, we see a driver on the other side of 287 continue towards the intersection with no sign of slowing, a potential red light runner.
Thankfully, unlike the other driver, OP was paying attention and unleashed his secret “weapon’, a five-horn train horn dubbed the Megablast PVC Trainhorn.
It’s loud.
OP practically dumps his on-board air tank in one go and obviously gets the attention of the other driver.
The other driver brakes, stops, and reverses back past the white intersection line.
Crisis averted.
“Honestly, after watching the video over and over, I still can’t tell exactly what he was doing. Regardless if it was a phone or fatigue, I’m glad nothing happened. Hopefully there was an impromptu lesson for him.”
“287 is a hit-and-miss road, sometimes people actually know what they’re doing, sometimes you have people sitting in the left lane for 20 miles,” /u/CaPT14N commented.
“My brother got T-boned in that exact same intersection a decade ago. I swear that the traffic pattern for the toll road access confuses plebs more than rocket science,” /u/Azure1213 added.
If you’re wondering, the horns he’s using (Leslie RS5T) are from a North Carolina based business called T&W Productions (website linked here.)
As OP’s video and this sample shows, it’s as loud, if not louder than, the real thing.
Like most of these near misses, defensive driving and a dashcam are key.
It goes without saying, but making sure your car is in tip-top shape is important, too, and that means making your sure your car horn is 100 percent.
Upgrading to one of those train horns doesn’t seem like a bad idea, either.
