“Hmm, I wonder what that caution tape and construction barrels is all about,” that driver probably thought.
Scrolling through Instagram and I came across a video from Fort Collins, CO from about 8 weeks ago showing a driver in a newer Ford Edge crossover not paying attention and driving straight into a dug up crosswalk pit.

The incident happened at a crosswalk at the Intersection of W Mountain Ave and the N Mason St. in the heart of Downtown Fort Collins (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As this screenshot from Google Maps shows, it looks like the City of Fort Collins was doing repairs, replacing this crosswalk that runs perpendicular to train tracks running through downtown.
To prevent cars from driving into the pit, there are construction barrels and caution tape surrounding the area.
Out of frame are probably signs saying to not enter this part of N. Mason St. with orange construction signs re-routing traffic.
It looks like this Ford Edge driver drove into the open pit on purpose because we can see the driver slow, inching their way into the space dug out.
Driving in was the easy part but driving out lacked skill and finesse.
As we can see, they gunned it out of the pit when, instead, they should’ve gently driven out.
It sounds like they popped one or both of their front tires in the process.
A real pro move would’ve been to let a little air out of their tires to make the transition from pit to road a little easier.
Embarrassed by their buffoonery, the Ford Edge driver speeds off.
Moments later, they likely pulled over because now they have a flat tire(s.)
“5 minutes or 5k in damage hmmmmmmm,” @i_dodge_trees commented.
“Bro does not f*****g care, he’s f*****g taking Mason St.,” @overwhalmingforce added.
“That’s what happens when you have all three margs at the Rio,” @pacmattatat replied.
As these comments hint at, this is probably a case of DUI, unfortunately.
If anything, the local Big O Tires probably got some business out of this doofus.
