It looks and sounds like the fleeing vehicle might’ve just grazed OP’s car.
Presumed Texas resident and Redditor /u/Anxiousbhat is thanking his lucky stars after a near miss.
/u/Anxhousbhat uploaded dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the heart pumping moment from earlier this weekend (Jan 6, 2024) as a driver fleeing from police in the small town of Aubrey, TX missed his car by mere inches.
Check out OP’s dashcam footage below.

The near miss happened at the intersection of FM1385 and E University Dr. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s making a left turn onto E University Dr. early in the morning (2AM according to OP in the comments, despite what the dashcam reads.)
Given the green light, he turns left and, in the middle of his turn, he avoids getting hit by a driver in a white Chevrolet Silverado who, at first, looks like your average red light runner.
In a daze, OP completes his turn and slowly continues on.
It’s then apparent why the driver in the white Silverado was running, as the reds and blues of chasing police appear behind OP.
Three police SUVs pass by, the first two of them dipping onto the break-down lane, avoiding running into OP.
“Sheesh, that was super close,” /u/Due-Illustrator-7999 comments.
“I was about to say “oh another guy running a red” but that looks like a chase and those cops would be on his tail. How you wouldn’t have seen the red and blue lights off in the distance if you had bothered to look right is astounding. This isn’t an idiot in car this is an unaware driver,” /u/ntldrx2 bluntly points out.
It’s universally accepted that you should only turn at an intersection after, according to the DMV, “Look(ing) both ways (left-right-left) and begin(ing) your turn when it is safe.”
Although OP admits the loud song didn’t help him turn safely, looking both ways involves just your eyes and has nothing to do with what you’re hearing.
“It was 2 AM at night. I could not hear the siren, maybe because I was playing stupid song,” OP commented.
However, as this screenshot of the intersection shows, you could see clearly, unobstructed, in both directions.
This is your reminder that making turns at intersections (or anywhere, really) involves you looking…with your eyes, both ways, to make sure it’s clear.
