The driver of this plow truck was clearly not paying attention.

Presumed Michigan resident and Redditor /u/Chrsb submitted concerning dashcam footage from earlier yesterday (Jan 18, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the shocking moment a plow truck ran a red light by 10 seconds right in front of him.

Check out his dashcam footage showing just that below.

[OC]Plow driver almost plows my truck

The near incident happened on S. Hughes Road and Grand River Ave in Brighton, MI (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

In OP’s video, we can see he’s travelling along the snow-dusted residential roads of Brighton.

OP gets to the intersection with several cars in front of him, sees his light turn green, and gets ready to make a left turn.

Three vehicles successfully turn left and, by that time, you’d think it’s safe to also turn.

Not quite.

OP stops just in time to see a red light-running (blue) Ram 1500 with a snow plow attached fly right past.

I counted a good 10 seconds after OP’s light turned green.

Unfortunately, OP’s dashcam footage was not quick and sharp enough to capture what it says on the side of that truck.

“Plowdy he**, that was close,” /u/Hasontaken commented.

“Everyone knows that plows have an 11 second grace period after a light turns red,” /u/_Jump_Yossarian sarcastically added.

“You stopping saved your life… or at least lots of pain,” /u/SoylentGold replied.

“Clearly he could not see the traffic lights over that massive plow. Probably 3’7″ tall,” /u/SubiWan joked.

OP did the right thing by driving defensively which, when it comes to intersections, means going when it’s your right of way, but making sure it’s clear before entering.

Take a page from OP’s book and don’t assume red light runners won’t cross even after a couple cars have passed.

Oh, and get yourself a dashcam, too.
