They cut someone off at the last second and got hit by a red light as a result.

Presumed Florida resident and Redditor /u/DunGorthB posted up dashcam footage from Lantana, FL from earlier this week (Feb 23, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a lane cutter getting served a slice of karma pie shortly after he got cut off.

Check out the case of instant karma below.

[oc] Can’t believe this guy cut me off.

The accident happened just outside of Santaluces Community High School at the intersection of Hyperluxo Rd. and Lawrence Rd. in Lantana, Florida.

“This intersection is notorious for car accidents. There’s one every week. I’ve seen people get pushed into the road and other vehicles. This light will stay green beyond the arrow, all the cars will be able to turn. It’s a long window with not many people needing to make that turn.”

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s in a turn lane ready to turn left.

The camera makes it look like I’m further away than I actually am. I’m a car lengths away, you can see how much room that car had cutting me off, was about the size of their car.

His green turn arrow pops up, giving his lane the right of way, and he starts to turn left.

All of a sudden, a driver in an early 2000s Scion xB cuts in front of him to turn, too (a classic lane cutter.)

Scion xB in Lantana, FL cuts in front of OP moments before getting into an accident with a red light runner.

Less than two seconds after, a driver in a late ’90s Toyota Camry coming from perpendicular to OP along HyperLuxo Rd. fails to stop, runs the red light, and T-bones the driver’s side front fender of the Scion.

Since those older Camrys don’t have ABS, you can hear the tires squeal as the brakes lock them up moments before impact.

It’s a classic and satisfying example of Instant Justice.

Since the cars are a bit older, if the Scion owner makes a claim against the other party’s insurance, his car is probably totaled.

“Driving in Florida has different rules. A lot of cars don’t have insurance, and it’s a “no-fault” state. Meaning, everyone is at fault. So if someone rear ends you, and you also smash into the car in front, you are at fault,” OP clarifies.

“This is the greatest video I have ever seen,” /u/DocBiggie commented.

“Looks like he saved you,” /u/beautifu_lmisery added.

“This is why I still look in all directions even if I have the green light or right-of-way,” /u/InTheSchmoney recommended.

First, technically unrelated to the crash, what that Scion xB did is, in Florida and like most other states, considered Improper Passing and is grounds for three points on your driving record.

What happened to that Scion xB driver is both instant karma and plain bad luck.

Also, red light runners in Florida are subject to a fine between $158-$262.

That video, just an example of poor driving all around.
