This driver in a depreciated $18,000 Audi had a large chip on their shoulder.

Road tripper and Redditor /u/BibertyLiberty posted up concerning smartphone footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver on I-71 in Mt. Sterling, OH swerving back and forth, preventing OP from passing.

OP says this went on for over an hour!

Check out the interesting bit of smartphone footage below.

[OC] For over an hour on I71 in Ohio this guy would purposely get in front of me and slow down below the speed limit, then speed up (well over 100) or swerve to cut me off whenever I went to pass. Also flicked me off and threw a cigarette out the window at me (and missed). Dude looked like a thumb.

As mentioned, the incident happened on I-71 in Ohio. This particular bit of footage was in Mt. Sterling before the Deer Creek State Park Exit (Exit 84.)

As you can see in OP’s footage, he’s driving behind this guy in a 2017-ish Audi A6 in the right lane, attempting to pass them.

The driver in the Audi, of course, swerves without signaling, preventing them from overtaking.

According to OP’s title,

“…This guy would purposely get in front of me and slow down below the speed limit, then speed (well over 100) or swerve to cut me off whenever I went to pass. Also, he flicked me off and threw a cigarette out the window (and missed.) Dude looked like a thumb.”

As to what set this guy off,

“I was going 85 in the left lane with cruise control, and he cut me off going 70-75, so I had to slow down quite a bit. This whole thing started when I got in the right lane to pass him shortly after, and he sped up to like 115. Of course once I was out of passing distance he would go 70-75 again. I think he just really didn’t want someone to pass him, for some reason I don’t understand.”

While this Audi fellow is clearly a nutter, I’m also quite intrigued that OP didn’t just stop engaging with this guy.

I mean, he kept getting road raged on for over an hour?

Other commenters shared my thoughts.

“This guy’s a di***, for sure, but you stayed around him for over an hour? That’s crazy. Quit engaging him and/or pull off and get a snack or something,” /u/Muvseevum commented.

“That’s when I stop to get lunch,”/u/Loring added.

“Why not just call the police. Report it as either road rage aggressive driving or possible drunk driving. Erratic behavior, Let them sort it out,” /u/Unusual_Flounder2073 soundly suggested.

The best advice with road ragers is to, as mentioned, not engage them.

Instead, call 911 to report them.

Let professionals sort this out and, if you have the opportunity, remove yourself from the situation.

And yeah, these Audis have depreciated that much.
