A case of not paying attention or just ignoring red lights altogether?
Presumed Georgia resident and Redditor /u/JapaneseFender posted up concerning dashcam footage from Decatur showing a driver flat out ignoring a red light, entering an intersection a good 10 seconds after their light turned red.
Check out the shocking bit of footage for yourself below.
[OC] Am I Missing Something Here Or Did Bro Just Run a Solid Red?

The incident happened at the intersection of Church St. and N Decatur Rd in Decatur (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As their video shows, OP is waiting on N Decatur Rd, waiting for his light to turn green onto Church St.
It finally does, OP entering the intersection after several seconds, an issue one of the top comments pointed out.
“…you took a while to go after it turned green…..but it seems that’s a good thing with him running the light,” /u/Paper_Knight_King commented.
OP explains that he had not driven his manual car for a while and was taking it easy on his clutch.
“Didn’t have this car for a while, so I was preparing to try and not abuse my clutch. This was a couple of days ago, and I’m already in the groove now. Seems like it was a good thing,”OP replies.
Regardless, OP enters the intersection and, a good 10 seconds after his light turned green (a protected green arrow, mind you) a car comes blazing past him, running what’s colloquially called a “Stale Red Light.”
“Am I missing something here, or did bro just run a solid red? OP titles his video in response.
This goes to show that, even if you enter an intersection after a short pause, there still might be cars headed right for you.
Regardless of how long you wait, it’s best to be like OP, to keep your head on a swivel, and to be prepared to take evasive action.
In Georgia, running a red light is subject to a fine between $70-160 depending on if it’s a red light camera ticket, or you were stopped by a police officer.
You also get three points on your record, and, if you get another red light ticket with at least three points still there, the fine goes up to $1,000+
You might think that the second fine is a little harsh but, it’s deterring repeat offenders.
I don’t have to explain to you the consequences of a red light runner gone bad.
