This boat-towing truck driver failed to yield even the slightest to traffic already on W 2nd Ave.
Presumed Washingtonian and Redditor /u/YOLO_Tamasi posted up head shaking dashcam footage from Spokane, WA from earlier last weekend (June 29, 2024) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a truck driver towing a boat recklessly pull out of this gas station with no regard for traffic already there.
Check out the dashcam footage below.
[OC] Guess if you’re big enough you don’t worry about other cars
byu/YOLO_Tamasi inIdiotsInCars
The incident happened in the 800 block of W 2nd Ave in Spokane, WA (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam footage shows, he’s stopped on W 2nd Ave, waiting for the light up ahead to turn green.
Pulling out of the 76 Gas Station, we see a driver in a white Ford Super Duty towing a Custom Weld Jet Boat.
It must be the first time he’s done this, as we see a driver in a Champagne Chevrolet Tahoe swing out of the way to avoid getting hit.
As a result, a Lincoln MKX next to the Tahoe moves too, getting out of the way of the Tahoe.
The boat-towing truck eventually completes his turn but, as the title suggests, without regard for his fellow drivers around him.
“Guess if you’re big enough, you don’t worry about other cars,” the Reddit thread title reads.
“This is why I want a cannon mounted in the front of my car,” /u/bobofiddlesticks humoursly comments.
“Just like real life: Biggest dude goes first!,” /u/BioticVessel adds.
“And of course right into the outside lane without a signal,” /u/SmellBinder points out.
In most states, this is arguably Reckless Driving.
The definition of Reckless Driving in Washington is defined as, “(1) Any person who drives any vehicle in willful or wanton disregard for the safety of persons or property.”
That sounds a lot like our boat towing truck driver.
According to Dellino Law, reckless driving is subject to …
- Jail time of up to 364 days
- Up to a $5000 fine
- Mandatory license suspension of no less than 30 days.
As with all close calls like this, it could’ve ended up a lot worse.
