A confrontation between two drivers escalated, distracting another driver who then rear-ended the vehicle in front of them
Presumed Northern Californian and Redditor /u/Tiberius_Jim shared head-shaking dashcam footage from earlier in July (July 24, 2024) from Pleasant Hill to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the headshaking moment when a road rage incident distracted another driver enough to rear-end the vehicle in front of them.
Check out the dashcam footage showing it all play out below.
[OC] Road Ragers Cause Two Other Cars to Crash

The incident started near the intersection of Monument Blvd. and Ramona Dr in Pleasant Hill (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage starts, drivers in a white Kia sedan and a grey Kia Sorento can be seen getting into some kind of vehicle-to-vehicle road rage.
Both are making a U-turn when the Sorento suddenly brake-checks the white Kia behind him.
This upsets the white Kia sedan driver, causing them to veer left and accelerate out of the way.
That wasn’t the end of it as both drivers stopped near the entrance to the North 680 on-ramp (Sacramento/Martinez) and start yelling at each other.
The driver in the Sorento even gets out of his crossover, approaches the white Kia sedan, and spits at the driver/driver’s window.

The driver in the White Kia finally decides to book it and accelerates forward from the shoulder.
Other vehicles happen to be passing, entering N 680 and unfortunately, one vehicle driving next to the accelerating Kia gets so distracted by what’s going on next to them that they don’t stop for traffic slowing in front of them.
In a case of collateral damage, the SUV next to the Kia slams into the vehicle in front of them, causing their separate incident.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what happened between the two original instigators, but it looks like their beef concluded.
“Two complete idiots ruining other peoples’ days. What a shame. Some people don’t deserve the privilege of driving,” /u/AFleetingMoment commented.
“Of course, they cause collateral damage. Sometimes we get into danger trying to avoid these major idiots,” /u/RLBeau1964 added.
“…that SUV running into the back of the other one? that’s pretty much on them. Why aren’t you paying better attention to your surroundings? You see two jacka**es being jacka**es, you don’t line up to them, forget you still have traffic in front of you, stare at jacka** while trying to not let them into your lane, and colliding with the vehicle in front of you…,” /u/lawl-butts bluntly put it.
When it comes to the variety of incidents you can come across in your day-to-day driving, the possibilities are limitless.
Regardless, getting distracted is no excuse for not paying attention to what’s happening in front of you.
Sure, two drivers road raging is bad enough.
But, you can only control what you can control, and, keeping a cool, calm, and composed driving head despite road rage happening around you is your responsibility.
Thankfully, it’s just a low-speed crash which, if they have insurance, should be relatively straight forward, although a pain in the you know where to get through (not to mention the time it’ll take.)
