This Mercedes driver turned in front of traffic going straight with the right of way and then road raged because of it.
Presumed Marylander and Redditor /u/Boggerslosh shared tense dashcam footage from earlier in July (July 11, 2024) from Baltimore to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the hare-brained moment a crazy Mercedes driver road raged at him after blocking his right of way while turning right.
Check out the dashcam footage for yourself below.
[OC] Turning Driver Blocks Right of Way, Wags Finger, Incites Collision
byu/Boggerslosh inIdiotsInCars
The incident started at the intersection of Maryland Ave. and W Oliver St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the video starts, /u/Boggerslosh is headed down W Oliver St. with a green light in front of him.
OP slows at the intersection to avoid hitting a driver in a black Mercedes who failed to yield.
OP says he honked (as one would do) which was all that it took to set him off.
The driver in the Black Mercedes slams on his brakes, gets out of his driver’s seat, and begins to yell something at OP.
“We were right outside a police training center! But, I don’t think this twerp is mugging anyone, I think he’s just a hot head,” OP commented.
The driver crawls back into his driver’s seat, but that’s not the end.
As the video shows, the driver then blocked OP from attempting to get around him, despite him coming to a stop.
“The Mercedes driver would crawl to a stop and then speed up when I tried to go around. I think he wanted me to rear-end him. I think the cam makes him look farther away than he was, it was pretty tense.”
Eventually, OP decides to cut across an opening at a center median while the Mercedes driver turns left, thus ending their road rage encounter.
“It’s one thing to make a mistake driving. We all do it. Most of us try hard not to, try to improve, and be on top of our game. But we are human, we are going to make mistakes. Own up to it. Denying it, trying to put it off on someone else – that’s a d**k move. Getting angry about it and then acting like a child – just makes this guy look even more foolish. Hope he somehow sees this and feels ashamed, he should be,” /u/Philzar aptly put it.
He even looks like a smarmy p***k,” /u/NamiaKnows hilariously commented.
“I would love this in my 2001 beat-to-s**t Tacoma. Honking the entire time and slowly moving to a quarter panel,” /u/BigDaddydanpri added.
As /u/Philzar put it, we all make mistakes behind the wheel.
But, to not learn from them and, instead, to double down on our mistakes does no one any good.
Unfortunately, this idiot doesn’t even know he made one.
