A Driver in A Toyota Camry In Monsey just made himself a several months, insurance-filled headache.

Monsey resident and Redditor /u/TheXb0xTroller shared frustrating dashcam footage from earlier in July (July 18, 2024) from Monsey to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a rushing driver headed to work understeer while rounding a corner in a residential neighborhood causing him to crash, head-on, into an innocent driver.

Check out the headshaking dashcam footage for yourself below.

[OC] The guy said he was rushing to work. *Excuse my language*

As mentioned, the collision occurred near the intersection of Union Rd. and W. Eckerson Rd. in the hamlet of Monsey, NY in the greater Spring Valley (Exact location on Google maps linked here.)

As the footage shows, /u/TheXb0xTroller is driving along Union Rd when he approaches the T-intersection with W. Eckerson Rd.

A driver in a Camry, who later admits to being in a rush, rounds the corner in front of him and, due to poor driving technique and physics, he understeers out of control into oncoming traffic.

/u/TheXb0xTroller can’t do anything but brace for impact, which he does shortly before getting into a head-on collision with the Camry.

Your guess is as good as mine but, with these types of accidents and the amount of damage both receive, both cars are likely totaled.

“I’m OK, I was a little shaken up since it was my first time in an accident, but overall I’m doing OK,” /u/TheXb0xTroller responded to a comment.

“If you’re 20 minutes late with no excuse, you get chewed out. If you’re three hours late due to a head-on collision, well, the boss might be understanding. Just, don’t share the specifics of the accident,” /u/Marilius humoursly pointed out.

“I worked in traffic court and helped this guy who had 4 red light violations at the same intersection all w/in a 1 yr period of time. He asked me what he should do. I wanted to tell him to leave earlier for work so he’s not running red lights.” /u/1961Tracy shared.

No one plans to get into an accident or thinks they will go faster than they usually do.

It’s why it’s never worth it to rush where you need to go.

The added risks never outweigh the benefits of showing up a few seconds earlier.

And now, both drivers, unfortunately, must deal with their respective insurances for weeks on end, not to mention the time wasted sourcing repair work and new rides.

Life’s too short to waste on sorting out preventable accidents.

Just take it easy on the roads.
