This BMW driver used a through lane to cut off another vehicle in a left-turn-only lane.
Texan and Redditor /u/UnicornGoesVroom shared frustrating dashcam footage from earlier in July (July 22, 2024) from Richmond, TX showing the harebrained moment a driver in a BMW crossover took advantage of a through lane to speed past OP in a left turn-only lane to cut her off.

The incident took place at the intersection of Farm to Market Road 1093 and Grand Mission Blvd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
In the video, we can see OP approaching the aforementioned intersection in the leftmost left turn-only lane.
OP turns left a little too late, technically running a red light.
But, as she was making the left turn, unbeknownst to her, a driver in a BMW crossover in a straight-through-only lane to her left ran the red light too.
The BMW crossover passes OP and, instead of going straight, changes lanes in the middle of the intersection in front of her cutting her off.
“F*** you, B***h!,” she screams at the other driver.
“She cut me off and then started looking at me and talking s*** to me like I was in the wrong when they clearly were. I’ve had people do the same thing at this light and they usually realize what they did and either look apologetic or put their hazards as a “sorry” and whatever cool. But if you’re going to talk s*** to me first and look at me like I did wrong? No,” /u/UnicornGoesVroom replied to a comment.
Although that BMW driver was clearly in the wrong, many Redditors pointed out that she technically ran a red, too.
“You should both pay more attention to red lights and the road. But good on you for avoiding the accident as you knew what she was up to when she came flying up on you with her turn signal on in that lane.,” /y/gman94024 pointed out.
You can read her replies, but they’re far from conciliatory.
Regardless, most agreed what the BMW did was uncalled for.
“The number of drivers, today, who turn from the wrong lane has just become phenomenal. I…Until they seriously enforce inattentive driving and hands-free phone use, you have to get used to it, expect it, and drive defensively to avoid these full-on idiots now on the roads,” /u/RLBeau1964 commented.
“That look was don’t you see me driving a BMW get out of my way even though I’m wrong as he**. Mercedes drivers and many other luxury car owners drive this way and feel they own the road because of what they drive,” /u/Playful_Street1184 added.
Blogging about similar situations, it’s clear, that when it comes to defensive driving, paying extra attention at intersections is key.
Although, yes, OP ran a red light, she did “think on her feet” and reacted to avoid an accident.
Had she not been paying attention, she likely would’ve got into a minor fender bender.
