A driver on Highway 19 in Alpharetta ironically made multiple illegal lane changes despite having a student driver sticker.

Georgian and Redditor u/Scrappy_The_Crow shared frustrating dashcam footage from the end of July (July 28, 2024) from Alpharetta to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the ironic moment a driver sporting a Student Driver decal made multiple, illegal lane changes in front of him, and it was all caught on dashcam.

Check out the ironic footage below.

[OC] “PLEASE BE PATIENT – STUDENT DRIVER” (sole occupant was a middle-aged man) NSFW for Bad Word
byu/Scrappy_The_Crow inIdiotsInCars

The incident happened on Highway 19 in Alpharetta, GA just before the Union Hill Rd underpass (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along Lane #3 of this four-lane highway.

OP is slowly accelerating, passing a driver in an Audi SUV.

A driver in a Honda CR-V sporting a student driver decal on their rear window can be seen in the rightmost lane drifting across the highway, directly in the path of OP.

According to OP’s title, the “sole occupant was a middle-aged man” so it’s safe to assume that was, in fact, not a student driver but was, in all likelihood, the instructor.

We see the Honda CR-V drift across two lanes and partially into a third before settling into Lane #2 beside OP, oblivious to their bad driving.

In Georgia, improper lane changes are subject to a maximum $1,000 fine and three points on your driving record.

“I feel like people who frequently drive impaired are putting these bumper stickers on their vehicles to hide in plain sight,” /u/ultratorrent commented.

“The “student driver” stickers are all just an “I can drive as shi**y as I want” pass. Guarantee most of them have been driving for years. Shi**ily,” /u/dufflebag7 added.

“I doubt this is the case here due to the extremely poor driving, but my AAA driving instructor had the student driver’s car all day as a work vehicle even without us in the car! That could be another group of ppl we see driving these cars that are very clearly not student drivers…,” /u/SoftSeagulls hypothesized.

This is a classic case of having to drive defensively, keeping your wits about you on the road at all times.

Drivers who change lanes without signaling or looking properly present a risk to themselves and those around them, increasing the chance of an accident.

Hopefully, this driver realizes, somehow, just how bad changing lanes without looking or signaling can be.
