A driver on the 60 freeway in LA gets pulled over for driving on the shoulder to bypass traffic.
SoCal resident and Redditor /u/julliu327 shared instant karma dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from earlier last week (Sept 25, 2024) showing a driver on the 60 freeway in Hacienda Heights casually driving on the shoulder to bypass stopped traffic.
Moments later, CHP pulled them over.
Check out the dashcam footage for yourself below.

As mentioned, the incident happened on the 60 freeway in Hacienda Heights just before exit 14B onto Seventh Ave. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
“Multiple left lanes on the 60 freeway were closed that night and some goofball thought he could bypass traffic by driving on the shoulder. I cut out some of the driving in the middle of the video,” OP captioned his post.
In the video, we can see a driver in a white Toyota Sienna casually driving by stopped traffic on the emergency shoulder.
Unbeknownst to that Sienna driver, a CHP officer is often dispatched to the choke point of blocked-off lanes to ensure traffic continues to flow.
Moments after passing OP, we see the Sienna driver pulled over, the bright lights of the CHP’s siren flashing in the night.
“Karma for driving on the shoulder during traffic is one of my favorite things,” /u/Practical-Ordinary-6 commented.
“Nothing I hate more than people driving on the shoulder during traffic. Especially considering there might be an accident up there with people that need emergency services. Keep the gd shoulder open for cops/ambulance/fire. Honestly…who are you that wherever you have to go right now is more important than someone else’s life?,” /u/antwan_benjamin added.
As mentioned, the emergency shoulder is just that, for emergencies like breakdowns and for emergency services to get to the scene of an accident.
Using up that lane like this could potentially mean the difference between life and death.
The way I see it, $237 and a point on your record is a small fine to pay for possibly delaying life-saving measures.
