Home security cam footage shows three teens fleeing the scene after hitting a parked car in this stolen Kia Optima.
Texan and Redditor /u/Strong_Sherbet237 shared head-shaking home security camera footage from earlier this week (Sept 30, 2024) from a Katy, TX neighborhood showing three teens in a presumed stolen Kia sedan plowing into a parked car after skidding out of control.
Predictably, their accident turned into a hit-and-run as they were seen running from the scene.
Check out the home security camera footage for yourself below.

OP doesn’t give an exact location where this happened but does confirm it’s somewhere in Katy, TX.
As the home security camera footage shows, a white Kia Optima can be seen and heard skidding out of control as they take a turn too fast.
The Optima sideswipes a parked Volkswagen crossover causing significant damage.
Three African American teens can be seen jumping out of the damaged Optima and running.
The Optima continues to drive forward before crashing into a black GMC Acadia.
A large number of Kias and Hyundais made between 2011-2021 didn’t come with engine immobilizers making them easy targets for theft using something as simple as a USB stick.
“Another stolen car by teenagers. Another innocent person has to pay for their screw-up since their parents failed and continue to fail. I hate seeing these videos all the time, police are useless and parents are nowhere to be found,” /u/ScenicPineapple commented.
“Today Folks, we learn about understeer,” /u/ZimJig pointed out.
“Criminals, not idiots, per se. It takes an idiot to be a criminal, but these are not simply idiots, they know what they are doing,” /u/Jack3489 replied.
“Punishment for grand theft auto can vary from a fine of up to $500 to life imprisonment. Most motor vehicle thefts are punishable by 180 days to 10 years in state jail, as well as by a fine up to $10,000.”
OP doesn’t provide any other additional details except what’s been provided in the Reddit thread above.
