A driver making a left turn off of I-15 was not paying attention and drove into oncoming traffic on Layton Parkway.
Utahn and Redditor /u/JTMaxlol shared dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from Layton from earlier this October (Oct 13, 2024) showing a driver in a Subaru Outback not paying attention and driving into oncoming traffic on Layton Parkway.
Check out this dashcam footage below.

The incident happened at the intersection of the I-15 offramp and Layton Parkway (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As his dashcam footage shows, he turns left onto Layton Pkwy from the rightmost left turn lane.
A driver in a white Subaru Outback in the left turn lane doesn’t follow the guidelines to his right and ends up drinking into oncoming traffic.
“Oh my God. Oh, buddy.”
The Outback driver realizes their mistake and, with a raised median separating directions of travel, comes face to face with a driver coming the other way.
Thankfully, both slow before hitting each other.
“If only there was a guideline to follow,” /u/typehyDro sarcastically comments.
“Signaling a right turn too. He’s all f***ed up,” /u/death_by_chocolate pointed out.
“People seem to struggle hard on Layton Parkway 😂,” presumed fellow Utahan /u/CapnnMorgann added.
“You sound so unfazed. “well there is someone who’s out to lunch. Rooting for them to figure it out”, /u/pn_man complimented.
Thankfully, it looks like nothing serious came out of this driving blunder, however, this could’ve ended up a lot worse.
While driving on the wrong side of the road (also known as “wrong-way driving”) is a relatively rare occurrence, it is linked to a significantly higher fatality rate compared to other types of car accidents due to the high likelihood of head-on collisions at high speeds. (An NTSB study to back this up.)
Most traffic offenses like this are classified as infractions, subject to a fine of no more than $750 and, according to Utah’s point system, 60 points on your driving record.
