Driver blames the victim for N I-35 North Frontage Rd Driveway collision. Dashcam footage proved otherwise.

Texan and Redditor /u/SuppresedPotato shared frustrating dashcam footage from earlier last week (Nov 20, 2024) in New Braunfels showing a driver pulling out of a driveway onto a frontage road and colliding with him.

If that wasn’t bad enough, the driver told police that /u/SuppresedPotato was at fault.

Check out the dashcam footage below.

The incident happened in front of the ValMark Chevrolet on N I-35 Frontage Road in New Braunfels (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As /u/SuppresedPotato’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving in his Jeep along N I-35 Frontage Road in front of ValMark Chevrolet.

Although he can see a driver in a black Chevrolet Traverse exiting the dealership driveway, he has the right of way and assumes the driver will stop.

The driver in the black Chevrolet isn’t paying attention because she drives into the side of /u/SuppresedPotato’s vehicle.

/u/SurprssedPotato explains in the comments how, despite his best efforts to avoid an accident, ultimately, when he double-checked his mirrors to see if he could swerve out of the way, there was an SUV in the lane next to him and a car behind him, too.

It sounds like he had no other choice but to emergency brake, swerve as best he could, and hope for the best.

“We both were pleasant and asked if the other was hurt. Then she said,” What did you not see me?” /u/SuppressedPotato explained in the comments.

“I said, “No ma’am. You pulled out without looking. You were looking right instead at oncoming traffic.”

She kept trying to argue with me. I said I’m not arguing with you. My camera saw everything. She continued to argue with me and with the cop. Who said he wasn’t there to find fault? Just to report the accident.

“I sent the video to him and the insurance. We’ll see how quickly this is settled. It was an accident that could have been avoided if she kept her eyes on oncoming traffic. Lucky no one was seriously hurt.”

OP doesn’t say how much damage the other driver suffered but does say he scratched a front driver’s wheel and tire with his aftermarket Rock Slider Engineering Steps taking the brunt of the second hit.

This accident was easily avoidable.

Good thing OP had his dashcam running as “he said, she said situation” gives no clear proof to their respective insurances.
