Driver in Los Angeles not paying attention stops on LA Metro Train tracks.

Los Angeleno and Redditor /u/Orangutanlover23 shared headshaking dashcam footage from Los Angeles from earlier in October (Oct 23, 2024) showing a driver not paying attention, coming to a stop on LA Metro Train tracks, and forcing an LA Metro Train driver to come to an emergency stop to avoid t-boning the driver.

Check out their dashcam footage below.

The incident happened at the intersection of West Adams Blvd and Flower St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, they come off of the 110 freeway and turn left onto West Adams Blvd.

Following a driver in a white Toyota Camry, they all come to a stop at the next intersection except the driver in the Camry passes the solid white limit line and onto Metro Rail train tracks.

At that exact moment, a Metro Rail A-line train comes barreling towards the Camry and comes to an emergency stop.

“He’s going to literally stop in front of the train…he’s trying to get f***ing plastered.”

The A-line train comes within feet of t-boning the Camry, which would’ve ended badly.

The driver in the Camry, realizing their colossal mistake, reverses to safety.

“I gotta look at the driver,” OP says.

“That’s a lot of blinker and lane changes, and that light wasn’t even close to not being red when they pulled up. Are they drunk?,” /u/Elceepo wondered.

“Defensive tramming ftw!,” /u/KaJuNator added.

In California, stopping past the limit line is the same as running a stop sign. Violators are subject to a base fine of $238 before fees and one point on their driving record.

It was extra dangerous in this station as LA Metro Trains are not only quite heavy, but they don’t exactly stop on a dime.

A single Metro Train without passengers weighs around 99,000 pounds (close to 50 tons) and there were three on this particular A-line train.

That’s a lot of devasting force if that Camry was to be hit.

Thankfully, everyone made it out of this situation A-OK, but, a fraction of a second later, and it could’ve ended up a lot worse.
