This Ram Truck driver drove recklessly across multiple lanes of traffic, crashing into this dashcam owner, which quickly turned into a hit-and-run.

San Antonian and Redditor /u/FrenchToastS**t shared headshaking dashcam footage from San Antonio from earlier last week (Dec 11, 2024) showing a driver in a silver Dodge Ram 1500 crossing five lanes of traffic (center turn lane included) only not to slow fast enough, crashing into the front of /u/FrenchToastS**t’s vehicle.

To make matters worse, instead of sticking around like a normal driver, the Ram 1500 driver booked it and left, making it a hit-and-run.

Check out /u/FrenchToastS**t’s dashcam video below with her Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened in the 10600 block of FM471 (aka Culebra Rd.) as OP exited the driveway of an H-E-B grocery store (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, she’s stopped on this driveway, yielding to cross traffic before she enters FM471.

OP highlights a driver in a silver Ram 1500 across the road at an opposite driveway brute forcing their way through five lanes of traffic, headed to the shopping center OP is exiting.

This, of course, is against Texas’s vehicle code as it’s an improper use of a center turn lane and is arguably reckless driving, too.

Weighing nearly three tons, these trucks don’t exactly stop on a dime.

The RAM 1500 makes it across but doesn’t stop in time, hitting the front of OP’s vehicle.

Instead of sticking around, the Ram 1500 driver books it, turning this into a hit-and-run.

RLB 5950

OP makes sure to read out the license plate for future reference, RLB 5950.

“Good news is that the plates are registered to that Dodge Ram with the VIN 1D7HA18226S625126. So yeah, give it to the police and let your insurance know,” /u/GundleFly commented.

“Police officer and I couldn’t find any damage to my car. The officer said I could press charges for the hit and run, but mentioned it would be a lot of work and a tedious process only resulting in “just a ticket” for the other driver. No report was filed and I just went about my day,” /u/FrenchToastS**t clarified.

“I’ve been going back and forth on whether I should file a report. It feels wrong to let the driver off the hook, as he did run without knowing there was damage or not.”

However, other Redditors encouraged OP to file a claim.

“Letting them off the hook is giving them permission to do it again to someone else,” /u/SexyMonad commented.

“You got hit by a 2-ton pickup, slow-moving, but that’s a lot of weight into the corner of your vehicle. I’d at least have a body shop make sure there’s no damage before I casually walk away,” /u/NotNotBrowsing added.

From her replies, it looks an awful lot like she’s leaning towards not letting this guy just get away with it.

I’d have to agree with these Redditors.

Vehicles are heavy and even what sounds like an inconsequential tap without visual damage can be hiding damage you can’t see without a closer inspection.

Hopefully, OP follows through and eventually files a claim with at least her insurance or local police.
