This BMW driver lived it to its stereotype, aggressively overtaking cars using the slow lane.
I-80 commuter and Redditor /u/a**kickingjedi shared headshaking dashcam footage from South Salt Lake from the last day of 2024 (Dec 31, 2024) showing a jerkwad BMW driver using the slow lane to aggressively overtake cars on the right, almost getting into an accident in the process.
Check out /u/a**kickingjedi’s dashcam video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
As mentioned, the incident happened on I-80 just before Exit 125 towards 700 East (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s in the exit lane headed towards SR-71 700 East.
Suddenly, a driver in a red BMW comes blazing past them, cuts them off, and overtakes slower traffic on the right.
A driver in a silver Subaru Outback, either on purpose or without knowing, changes lanes towards the exit at the exact same time the BMW attempts to overtake them.
They almost collide.
The Outback completes their lane change and so does the BMW.
The BMW driver can be seen speeding away off into the distance.
“Utah will forever be home to dip***t drivers,” /u/ZR_Blu commented.
“This is how a BMW is supposed to be driven. I think it’s in the manual,” /u/Bert-63 sarcastically added.
“Guaranteed he’s aged 18-25. The most dangerous drivers, by far,” /u/onebadmousse hypothesized.
Improper passing on the right like this is arguably an infraction, violators in Utah are subject to a fine of at least $130 before all the fees.
