While fires continue to rip through Southern California, stories of acts of heroism are emerging.

Los Angeleno Caleb Serban-Lawler, who goes by @CalebSerbanLawler on social media, shared on Instagram how, in the middle of helping out victims of the Pacific Palisades fire with his truck, he dropped everything and drove back into the fire to help a stranger rescue her four dogs, ultimately bringing them all to safety.

Check out his post on Instagram below.

“I was in the hills helping and on my way back out she ran up to my truck asking for help so I went back up the mountain to go get her pups,” Lawler captioned his post.

Lawler is driving a pickup truck equipped with flashing hazards to aid his visibility.

At that point, presumably, Lawler had been helping rescue efforts for hours.

As mentioned, at a stranger’s behest, he dropped everything to help her get her dogs, and that meant driving back toward the flames.

As the screenshots below show, the fire, at that point, was still blazing all around them, embers flying everywhere.

It sounds like the woman would’ve driven down herself had it not been for troubles with her vehicle.

“My car won’t start because it’s a hybrid,” we can hear her say.

Thanks to GPS coordinates, we can estimate where he drove up to and the path he took to get out.

The route Lawler took to get out of harm’s way.

If the above is true, Lawler and the stranger drove through miles of what would’ve been blazing homes on either side of them.

The visibility was so bad that, at one point, Lawler shows how, even with bright, LED headlights, he almost crashes into a barrier.

With the help of a random reporter, Lawler stops to rearrange the dogs. His caption says that one of them didn’t get along with the other three.

They eventually make it onto the 405 and towards the 10 to safety.

“I don’t know how you drove. You couldn’t see anything. I’m just so grateful to be alive,” she says while they’re on the 10.

“I got you. No problem,” he responds, like a BAMF.

Hats off to you, Lawler.

You could’ve easily reiterated how dangerous it was to attempt to drive back towards the flames, but you selflessly helped a stranger in need, instead.
