A sign prohibits drivers from making a left turn in this right-turn-only exit.
West Springfield driver and Redditor /u/DrukenGoose37 shared frustrating dashcam footage from earlier last week (Jan 25, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a woman driver in her Toyota Camry make a left turn from a right turn only lane, resulting in OP almost t-boning her had he not been paying attention.
Check out OP’s dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in the 00 block of Daggett Dr in West Springfield (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he makes a right on Daggett from Riverdale.
Up ahead, you can see a driver in her Camry exiting Riverdale Shops, presumably turning right from a right-turn-only exit.
Here’s the POV from the other driver before the incident.

The lady then pulls an uno reverse and essentially makes a no-look left as OP and other traffic approach from her left.
Thankfully, OP is paying attention and slams on his brakes, coming within feet of t-boning her.
“There are 2 lanes going in the direction I’m traveling and 2 lanes going in the opposite direction,” OP explains.
“This woman is in a right-turn-only lane and decides to take a left and illegally cut across 4 lanes of traffic. She pulled into the Hampton inn lot so I am willing to bet she is not local to this area. I think I did an okay job reacting to this… considering I’ve driven down this stretch a couple of hundred times with no issue.”
“There are too many inattentive drivers out in the world. I commend her effort and bravery to step into the line of danger and test your brakes and ability to operate a motor vehicle effectively. If anything was wrong with this clip, I think you should have doubled your efforts in applauding her service to the world of traffic safety!,” /u/klinkero sarcastically commented.
This lady’s improper turn can arguably classified as disobeying a traffic control device, of which violators in Massachusetts are subject to a fine of up to $150.
