Two cars blow through red at Alcosta and Davona. The light was red for at least nine seconds at that point.
Dublin, CA driver and Redditor /u/CirrusVision20 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this January (Jan 15, 2025) showing a pair of idiots blow through a red light in front of a cop only for one of them to get pulled over almost immediately.
Check out OP’s dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of Alcosta Blvd and Davona Drive (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving on Alcosta Blvd.
Up ahead you can see the lights at the intersection with Davona are already red.
As OP approaches and slows to come to a stop, the driver in front of him in a white BMW doesn’t slow, at all, and blows through the red, which had been on for at least nine seconds at that point.
A driver not paying attention in a Tesla Model 3 in the next lane also breezes through but looks to brake mid-way to acknowledge they messed up and attempted to brake.
An observing police officer in their cruiser following behind the two sees it play out, puts on their blues, and tunes, and gives chase to both.
Only one gets caught.
“Unfortunately the cop was only able to pull over one car… the Tesla. I was grinning like an idiot,” OP comments.
“It’s not shown but as I was passing by I giggled to myself and said ‘get his a**’.”
“Wow, that light was red for so long it rivaled China,” /u/laughingashley hilariously commented.
“So many people just blasting through red lights these days. Here most of the kids have mounted their phones to the far left of their windshield so they can tiktok and live stream while driving. Between them and the old people it’s getting wild around here,” /u/Hoooooooar disturbingly added.
“This reminds me to not rely on my peripheral vision so much. Don’t go just because the car next to you is going,” /u/Zerostar83 suggested.
In California, running a solid red light like this has a base fine of $100 which, after fees, can increase to as much as $500.
Violators also get one point on their record.
