This dashcam owner laying on their horn was the only reason a driver in a Kia Sportage on Otis St. narrowly avoided a collision.
Worcester County commuter and Redditor /u/noearthsociety shared head-shaking dashcam footage from Northborough from earlier this week (Mar 4, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an inattentive driver in a Kia Sportage almost crash head-on into them had it not been for a well-timed honk.
Check out the infuriating dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in the 00 block of Otis St. on a bridge that crosses over Smith Pond and right after passing Armeno Coffee Roasters at around 6 P.M. in the early hours of the evening (exact location on Google Maps linked here).
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving along Otis St. when suddenly the headlights of a driver in a KIA Sportage can be seen slowing approaching him in his lane.
OP’s dashcam video doesn’t have sound, but OP says he laid on his horn for as long as he could to avoid a head-on collision.
It was either his heallights or his horn, but the other drier realized their mistake, stopped in time, and rerouted around OP.
Thankfully, nothing further happened, and both drivers went on their respective ways, although it could’ve been a lot worse.
“How can you miss headlights in your face at night? That cretin should trade his driving license and car for white cane and guide dog,” /u/Manunancy commented.
“Dear me, I forgot we’re in the colonies!,” /u/toomanymarbles83 humoursly added.
“Straight to jail,” /u/internetenjoyer69420 sarcastically (but not really) suggested.
