A driver in Eastchester refused to yield the right of way and even sped up towards a dashcam owner despite a parked car blocking his path.
New York resident and Redditor /u/Vast-Ad-687 shared particularly frustrating dashcam footage from the Scarsdale neighborhood of New York from earlier yesterday (Mar 11, 2025) showing an idiot driver refusing to yield the right of way to OP, the dashcam owner, despite a parked car blocking his direction of travel.
And when confronted, he showed off his lack of knowledge in one rage-filled rant.
Check out what transpired embedded below with the original dashcam footage linked here.
I had to deal with this idiot today, unfortunately. [OC]

The incident happened in the 00 block of Nelson Rd. in Scarsdale, NY (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along Nelson Rd when he suddenly comes head to head with a driver in a black Chevrolet Suburban.
A parked Subaru Forester forces the Suburban driver to incorrectly go into the other direction of travel despite his obligation to yield the right of way.
In New York and most (if not all US states,) the car on the side with the parked vehicle (the one on the left in OP’s scenario) must yield the right of way to the oncoming car.
In situations where a lane is partially obstructed by a parked vehicle, the driver whose lane is blocked is responsible for waiting until the lane is clear before proceeding.
That’s not what happens with the other driver thinking OP wanted to play a game of chicken.
Then, a rage and emotion-filled exchange can be heard between the two.
Here’s the bulk of it verbatim.
“You see the other car on the other side, right?” the Suburban driver points out.
“You see that you have to right of way to me, right? You understand that your side of the road is to the left?” OP replies. He probably meant to say you have to yield the right of way…
“Have a good morning.”
“I’m going to have a great morning. Do you know how to drive?”
“You play a game of chicken?”
“This is MY SIDE OF THE ROAD. SO PULL OVER. The Right of way is mine. You yield to me.”
“I don’t yield to you.
“Yes, you do. Do you drive on the opposite side of the road every day?
“You should have seen when I was approaching…”
“You sped up to get around in an unsafe manuever.” OP correctly points out.
“You (should) slow down.”
“Stop it.”
“You stop it.”
“Make sure that you practice safe driving for everyone else,” OP concludes.
Most everyone in the comments, myself included, was in defense of OP.
“The fact that he tried to argue that OP was in the wrong was insane,” /u/Yopi39 added.
“God that guy was such a moron,” /u/Sebubba98 replied.
“His lane was blocked, so it was on him to wait for a safe pass. You definitely had the right of way.” /u/cstar4004 concurred with OP.
This comment, however, was kind of spot on.
My father taught me to not get into arguments with idiots. He said it makes it too difficult to tell the two of you apart,” /u/FishRod61 wisely put it.
The suburban guy was definitely in the wrong here.
And while it was probably not a good idea to go toe-to-toe with an idiot (although OP didn’t know it at first at the time) I don’t think I’d react any differently, although you probably should avoid such pointless conversations.
