An idiot driver made a left turn near Madison and Epler, right across the path of two cars coming the other way.

Indianapolis commuter and Redditor /u/ImTheBabomb shared head-shaking dashcam footage to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an idiot driver make a left turn on Madison Ave without yielding to OP and the other car in front of them, causing a multi-car collision.

Of course, the bafoon, likely uninsured, immediately turned it into a hit-and-run by fleeing the scene.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened close to the intersection of Madison Ave and E Epler Ave in Indianapolis (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, they’re driving south down Madison Ave towards the aforementioned intersection.

In the left lane, a driver in a black Toyota Avalon passes and slots kitty-corner to them.

Just as they approach Speedway Gas and convenience store, our soon-to-be hit-and-run driver makes a left right in the path of both OP and the driver in the Avalon.

The left turn, failing to yield, hits the Avalon, causing OP to broadside the Avalon as a result, a multi-car collision.

“His car ended up on the other side of the street,” OP explains in the comments.

“They took off leaking fluids.”

Although they reported it as such to the police, they have yet to locate the hit-and-run driver.

No one was seriously injured.

“At least no one was hurt. So, all that’s lost is money. We can work that back.”

As luck would have it, they’d just lowered their insurance in regards to collision from State Farm.

“Two weeks ago, we lowered (our) collision. We have uninsured driver but he ran and State Farm is saying they can’t prove they were “uninsured.”

If that sounds confusing in regards to their situation and how insurance isn’t helping them…

“OP probably removed collision altogether to lower their premium. A dumb thing to do if you can’t replace your car yourself,” /u/Jaggar345 clarified, a point OP doesn’t contest, so presumably that’s (unfortunately) what they probably meant to say.

Most Redditors in the comments suggested taking legal action against State Farm.

“Get a lawyer involved. Sue your insurance company,” /u/MaintenanceCapable83 suggested.

“100% do this when dealing with State Farm. We had friends whose home burnt down in the Marshall Fires a few years back and State Farm said they weren’t covered, 6 month later they sued them and got a $800k+ check to rebuild their home,” /u/cophotoguy99 concurred.

Thankfully, they have dashcam footage, which should go far in litigation against their insurance company if they decide to go that route.

While most drivers might be able to get away with going with a bare bones car insurance policy, this is a case where they would’ve saved more money had they kept their policy as is.

Hopefully, police can locate the hit-and-run driver sooner rather than later because their situation is plain unfair.
