This driver’s dangerous and illegal maneuver saved them practically no time at all.

Henrico commuter and Redditor /u/Quirky-Marsuipal-420 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (Apr 30, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an impatient driver in a Chevrolet Malibu jump into opposing traffic, across double solid yellow lines, only to end up saving no time at all when they eventually made their turn.

The incident happened along the 2700 block of Hungary Spring Rd in Henrico (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving along Hungary Spring Rd going the normal speed of traffic.

The speed limit in this area is 35 MPH, with this part of Hungary Spring Rd being arguably residential in nature.

As he approaches the intersection with Broad St, our impatient driver swings out into oncoming traffic and passes OP.

He eventually turns right onto Broad St, arriving practically the same time as OP, his maneuver saving him practically no time at all.

“Only to immediately brake and take a right turn. This person is amazing at thinking ahead,” the top comment from /u/mjklein32 replied.

“My pet peeve is people overtaking with permanently lit brake lights. Do you want to go faster or not??,” /u/independent-Film-251 pointed out.

“Our friend here saved all of 2.5 seconds with this swift move right here,” /u/Fatt_Mera sarcastically added.

In Virginia, drivers who don’t drive on the right side of the road are subject to a base fine of $100, and that’s obviously before all the fees.
