Despite the Range Rover’s off-road reputation and AWD, idiot drivers and a light dusting of snow can cause them to lose control and fail to stop.
Arapahoe County commuter and Redditor /u/CantConfirmOrDeny shared headshaking dashcam footage from Columbine Valley from earlier in January (Jan 18, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a clueless driver in their expensive Range Rover SUV just about plow through an intersection, almost failing to stop, thanks to a light dusting of snow.
Check out OP’s dashcam footage below.
The incident happened at the intersection of Coal Mine Ave and Platte Canyon Rd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, and despite the date of this posting, a dusting of snow coats the local roads.
As such, it behooves drivers to take extra care, time, and distance when coming to stops.
As OP is about to turn left, a driver in a Range Rover comes into view and attempts to stop.
Even though the Range Rover is technologically advanced with all the bells and whistles like AWD and ABS, it still weighs 4,000 pounds empty and upwards of two tons fully loaded.
It’s one heavy girl.
Even though the Range Rover’s wheels are turning, the ABS system is working overtime, firing dozens of times a second, in an attempt to slow the SUV.
The Range Rover eventually comes to a stop, coming within feet of t-boning a turner.
Realizing how far into the intersection they are, the Range Rover driver slowly backs up.
Thankfully, nothing came of the incident.
“But how could this be?!? I have 4WD!!!,” the top comment from /u/NihilisticPolluanna reads.
“So many people driving in snow with half bald all-season tires,” /u/JimTheJerseyGuy points out.
“It helps if you brake before the intersection,” /u/Exciting_Degree_2384 humourously points out.
