This driver in a blue Honda Fit ended up totaling their car, all because they couldn’t stay off their phone.
Mobile County-area driver and Facebook user Aldon O. shared headshaking dashcam footage from I-10 from earlier in July (July 28, 2026) showing the moment a driver, supposedly too busy texting, lost control mid-lane change, causing them to overcorrect and crash, pretty much totaling their car.

The incident happened in Theodore, smack dab in the middle of I-10, just before Exit 17A-B towards Dauphin Island and Tillman’s Corner (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, Aldon is driving eastbound down I-10 towards the cloverleaf interchange with 193.
In the rear-view, you can see a driver in a blue Honda Fit signal to change lanes, but somehow doesn’t see they’re also on a slow drift collision course with another driver in a white HD Chevrolet Silverado, just to their left.
The Fit, seeing they’d sideswipe the truck, jerks the wheel right but loses control, now sending them back towards the center divide.
The driver in the Fit crashes head-on into the concrete barrier, hard, essentially totaling their ride.
They can be seen drifting back towards the other side of I-10 before coming to a stop.
No word on the condition of the distracted driver, but it looks like, at the very least, the curtain airbags deployed.
“Prime example of snap spin that coulda been avoided by just maintaining throttle and not jerking the wheel back and forth. Stabbing the brakes will swing that a** around every time,” Tommy Busselle from the Honda Fit Owners Club commented.
“…Or, looking at the road,” Miaa Glow replied.
“Poor Honda Fit did not deserve that,” Ted Taylor commiserated.
In Mobile, AL, distracted driving that causes a crash can result in a $50 first-offense fine ($100 second, $150 third/subsequent within two years) under Alabama’s hands-free law, with violations adding points to your license. A phone-related conviction can add 1 point for a first offense, 2 points for a second, and 3 points for a third or later offense; causing a crash could also lead to separate citations such as reckless driving (6 points) depending on the circumstances.
