A handgun owner got so offended at being cut off mid-turn that he pulled out his gun and aimed it at another driver.
Vancouver commuter and Redditor /u/TheBrownWelsh shared shocking dashcam footage from Highway 99 from earlier last year (June 22, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver so offended by another driver’s act of road rage that he ratcheted it up to unacceptable levels by drawing a gun and pointing it at the other driver.
Check out the dashcam video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
[oc] gun (please forgive editing + hoooonk)

The incident happened at the intersection of Highway 99 and NE Minnehaha St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
It’s worth noting OP initially edited this video for his friends, so you can disregard the first 17 seconds if you want.
Regardless, we see OP arrive at the aforementioned intersection behind a driver in a red RAV-4 and a black BMW sedan.
Suddenly, for some reason, one that OP doesn’t even know, when they get the light to turn green, the driver in the red RAV-4 accelerates forward, cuts the BMW off, and boxes him in onto Minnehaha.
Eventually, the driver in the RAV-4 relents and lets the BMW driver through, but, upon closer inspection, OP finds out the BMW driver actually pulled a gun out on the RAV-4 driver.
Yeah, it got that heated and road-rage-y.
A sheriff in a police interceptor can be seen slowing down, curious at the situation unfolding near him, but not 100 percent sure what went down.
Regardless, while there are situations where self-defense requiring a gun draw is plausibly justifiable, such as life and death situations, this definitely was not one of them.
“No idea what caused the initial maneuver by the SUV but hot damn, I let the other car get some distance before getting back up to speed,” OP clarified.
“Please turn this over to local authorities, this idiot is going to get himself and others hurt. Source: CCW holder here,” the top comment from /u/squanchy_Toss reads.
“That’s why people should control their road rage because the person you are trying to run off the road might have a gun in the car,” /u/Giannid77 soberly pointed out.
Interestingly enough, both road rage, classified as reckless driving, and brandishing a weapon have similar, if not the same fines. (sources here and here.)
Road rage and brandishing a weapon unlawfully are both punishable by fines up to $5,000, up to one year in jail, or both.
