A turner from Grove St turns into the wrong lane, heads the wrong direction, and then doubles down by running a red light, too.

Downtown Stamford driver and Redditor /u/XxshockwavexXX shared head-shaking dashcam footage from earlier in February (Feb 15, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a clueless driver turning into the wrong lane, heading the wrong direction, and, after they self-corrected, deciding to run a red light, too.

Check out the masterclass in driver’s ineptitude below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

Some people shouldn’t have a license [oc]

The incident happened at the intersection of Broad St. and Grove St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is headed west on Broad towards the aforementioned intersection.

Up ahead, we can see traffic going straight and turning from Grove with the right of way.

Perhaps a combination of not being able to see well at night and being unfamiliar with the area, a driver in a blue Toyota Prius C can be seen turning into the wrong lane, a turn lane on Grove, against traffic.

The driver self-corrects and all would’ve been forgiven, but there’s a plot twist.

The Prius C driver immediately does a U-turn, against a red light, and almost collides with traffic while doing it.

All doubt that the first move was a simple mistake goes out the window, confirming they need to hand in their license ASAP.

“Hell of a plot twist, could not believe he made that last series of choices,” the top comment from /u/leahmotif_ reads.

“I wish there was sound. When they pulled up to the light and kept going, you would’ve heard a “What, the, F*** are they doing?”,” OP replied.

“I can’t even fathom the level of idiocy/intoxication required here,” /u/thissayssomething added.

In Connecticut, driving in the wrong direction of travel (e.g., turning into oncoming traffic rather than the proper flow) is treated as a moving violation/infraction that can result in points and a fine on your driving record. The state’s point schedule assigns one point for improper direction/wrong‑way type infractions, and points remain on your license for 24 months — accumulating enough points can lead to DMV warnings or even suspensions. (DMV.ORG)

Fines vary by municipality and how the case is handled in court, but statewide traffic infraction schedules list fines in the range of about $75–$183 (plus court fees) for “driving the wrong way” style violations on typical roadways. (jud.ct.gov)

For running a red light in Connecticut, it’s generally an infraction that adds two points to your driving record and can carry a typical total fine of around $139 (fees included) when paid as a moving violation. (drivinglaws.org)
