You’d think someone driving a Class A Motorhome through the outer Atlanta downtown area would be more cautious about road markings, but such was not the case.

Downtown Atlanta driver and Redditor /u/Tissiboi shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in April (Apr 24, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing who OP hints at is an elderly motorhome driver who incorrectly assumes his giant RV is on a one-lane road, resulting in him scraping the living heck out of the side of OP’s Mazda CX-5.

Check out the sickening sound of an entire RV literally scraping the entire side of OP’s Mazda below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersectino of Boulevard SE and Edgewood Ave. (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP slots into the left lane on Boulevard SE, a two-lane road literally delineated by hashed lane markings.

They’re a little light, but they’re there.

Next to him is a driver in an entire Class A Motorhome who, now with the green and right-of-way, starts accelerating forward.

As clarified by OP, they assumed they were on a one-lane road.

“He said he thought it was a one-lane road and that I was in his lane.”

What happens next is one of the worst sounds a driver can hear: an entire RV scrapes the side of his Mazda CX-5.

“He pulled over about 20 ft ahead…He was ticked and found at fault by the police.”

“As someone who grew up around RVs and motor homes, I think they’re the worst f***ing thing to have on the road, and anyone over the age of 55 driving one should be required to get a special license. I’ve seen so many retired motherf***ers driving these things like a minivan instead of a full-size semi, it’s absolutely f***ing ridiculous that it’s still allowed for anyone,” one of the top comments from /u/b***hing_bot reads.

“I would argue that the driver of the RV shouldn’t even be on that street. It’s way too damn narrow. They were listing over the line when OP drove by them,” /u/Qwirk shared.

“Crazy any old fool can just buy one and drive it around,” /y/Anon_Jones added.

In Atlanta, scraping the side of a vehicle because you assumed it was one lane would typically be cited as failure to maintain lane and/or unsafe lane change under Georgia Code §40-6-48. That’s usually a misdemeanor traffic offense, carrying roughly a $100–$1,000 fine, plus court costs and 2–3 points on your license depending on how it’s written. If there’s property damage, you’re also on the hook civilly through insurance, and a large motorhome (Class A) can make the claim more expensive.
