This dashcam owner yielded to a semi. An Altima driver took an opportunity to take advantage.
Erie County-area driver and Redditor /u/TheScienceNerd100 shared head-shaking dashcam footage from earlier in April (Apr 24, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a Nissan Altima driver taking advantage of OP’s following the rules of the road by slipping behind a semi that OP patiently waited for (as it was their right-of-way), then illegally running a red light.
Check out their impatient move play out below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of Buffalo Rd. and Mclelland Ave. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is pointed north on McClelland, waiting to turn left onto Buffalo.
A driver in a semi with a full-size trailer is attempting to turn left, but first, must yield to cross traffic.
Predictably, they’re in the middle of the intersection by the time OP gets a green to turn, so, doing the right thing, as are the rules of the road, he gives the semi time and space to complete their turn.
An Altima driver behind the semi takes this as an opportunity to get ahead and, instead of waiting a beat for their own green, they illegally run the red in front of OP, forcing OP to brake to avoid t-boning them.
“I would expect no less from an Altima,” the top comment from /u/thecakeisali reads.
“You were careful entering the intersection and that saved you, so chalk that one up to fortune and boogie on safely,” /u/11B-33T pointed out.
“It always never is not an Altima,” /u/SomethingIWontRegret humoursly added.
In Erie, running a red light under 75 Pa. C.S. § 3112 typically brings about a $100 base fine (often around $125–$175 total with costs) and 3 points on your license. If it causes a crash or you fight it and lose, costs can climb higher. Insurance rates often go up afterward as well.
