Driver thought he was playing 4D chess by driving on the shoulder, only to be pulled over, rather quickly, by a Harris County Constable.

Harris County driver and Redditor /u/Cervenit shared a case of instant justice from earlier in April (Apr 22, 2026) to the /r/ConvenientCop subreddit, showing a driver trying to be slick on FM 1960, using the emergency shoulder to pass traffic, only to do it in front of a police officer watching it all play out from the leftmost lane.

Check out the case of instant karma below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident occurred near the intersection of FM 1960 and Farrell Rd. in Humble (Exact location on Google Maps linked here).

In the dashcam vid, OP is headed eastbound down FM 1960 past the aforementioned intersection towards Bordersville.

Suddenly, a driver in a dark gray Nissan Altima blasts by them in the emergency shoulder, not an actual driving lane if you don’t already know.

They weren’t 100 percent paying attention because they did it in front of a Harris County Constable in his interceptor.

The inevitable happens, and the Constable puts on his reds and blues to pull the offending driver over.

“Took the shoulder to speed up their commute, and got stuck on the shoulder, slowing them down,” the top comment from /u/BarnacleMcBarndoor reads.

“I like how the driver in the outside lane has enough situational awareness to immediately know what’s going to happen next and just slides over to make way for the cop,” /u/Jeezy_Peezy pointed out.

This is the driver the above commenter was talking about.

“I hope that was very satisfying in person because it was satisfying to me just watching the video,” /u/adudeguyman commented.

“It was very satisfying, I went from “come on, dude” to “yes! haha!”, OP replied.

In Humble, Texas, driving on the shoulder to pass traffic is illegal and typically cited as improper use of a roadway or unsafe passing under Texas Transportation Code. It’s usually a misdemeanor traffic violation with fines that can run roughly $150–$300 depending on the court and circumstances. You can also get points on your license, which may raise your insurance rates if it’s not dismissed.
