This driver was clearly operating with no regard for the rules of the road, resulting in them getting into an unnecessary fender bender.

Downtown Boise-area driver and Redditor /u/McGby128 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in May (May 1, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an insane driver in a Nissan Altima throwing the rule book out by going straight through a center turn lane and brute forcing a lane change without yielding.

Check out the poor display of driving that ended in an accident below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on S Broadway Ave. just after the intersection with E Parkcenter Blvd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

It’s hard to make out in the beginning, but, for some reason, a driver in a Nissan Altima is driving through what is the beginning of the center turn lane on Broadway.

And even then, with double solid yellow lines on either side of that particular section, drivers aren’t supposed to be in that area at all.

After the Altima illegally merges into the rightmost lane, they suddenly signal, forcing a lane change towards the parking lot shared by Carls Jr. and Geo Nonresidential Reentry Services.

Despite a Prius next to the Altima, they change lanes anyway, the Altima getting into a fender bender, the front of their passenger fender making contact with the rear of the Prius.

Thankfully, it didn’t escalate into a hit-and-run, and both stopped to exchange insurance information.

“The two exchanged insurance info, and I got the email of the lady who was hit to send her a copy of the video. I didn’t talk to the lady who hit her,” OP clarified in the comments.

“When she made that right I thought for a second she was going to flee,” a top comment from /u/ChaosMusic read.

“Wonder if that was a case of someone who listens too closely to a back-seat driver or a navigation app and forgets to drive,” /u/ragweed wondered.

In Boise, driving through a center turn lane and forcing a lane change that causes a crash can result in improper lane usage and unsafe lane change tickets, typically totaling a couple hundred dollars in fines. Most violations like this carry about 3 points on your license, though it can increase if cited as careless driving. If you hit another driver, you’ll likely be found at fault, which can also raise insurance rates.
