This impatient driver tried to pull off an illegal pass, while speeding next to Dr. Mona Jain Middle School a& BD Gullett Elementary, but didn’t realize a cop saw it all play out.
Bradenton-area driver and Redditor /u/HopOnMyArk shared a case of instant justice from earlier at the end of April (Apr 30, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing an impatient driver trying to pull off an illegal pass, while speeding, in a school zone, without realizing a cop saw it all play out.
Check out the dashcam video showing it all play out with the original Reddit thread below.
The incident happened in a school zone on 44th Ave E just before the intersection with White Eagle Blvd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is headed eastbound down 44th Ave E towards White Eagle Blvd.
Since they’re right next to Dr. Mona Jain Middle School & BD Gullett Elementary School, this is a 20 MPH school zone further highlighted by the signage with flashing lights.
In front of OP is a driver in a black VW Jetta who is too impatient so, instead of waiting, they use the turn lane next to them to overtake traffic.
As shown below, the turn lane terminates, so they have to slip back into the leftmost lane.

A Bradenton Police officer in an all-black Chevrolet Caprice Interceptor sees this all play out and immediatly puts on his reds and blues to pull the offending Jetta driver over.
It’s GG for the impatient driver.
“Y’know, there are many times when I think ‘Why is there never a cop when you need them?” And then I see a video like this, and it is a balm for my weary soul. Thanks for the post, OP,” one of the top comments from /u/Pure-Swordfish6022 reads.
“That was about the least undercover cop you could have possibly passed in that situation…,” /u/PenFifteen1 pointed out.
“Illegal pass and speeding in a school zone, oh yeah, they’re getting deep f***ed,” /u/407juan added.
In Bradenton, Florida, speeding in an active school zone typically runs about $304–$454 (≈3–4 points) depending on how fast you were over, because fines are doubled in school zones. (TrafficTicketFine)
Illegally using a turn lane to pass (improper passing) is usually about $160–$180 and 3 points in Florida (varies slightly by county).
Stacked together, you’re realistically looking at $450–$600+ total before all the fees and ~6–7 points if cited for both.
