This orange Jeep driving around, through the oncoming lane to run a red was certainly a choice.
DeKalb County-area driver and Redditor /u/BottleHour5703 shared headshaking dashcam footage from this busy US-29 intersection from earlier in May (May 14, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an impatient driver in a Jeep Renegade brute forcing their way through an intersection, running a red light out of frustration due to an indecisive driver in front of them.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Frazer Rd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here with a birds-eye view below.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is stopped on Frazier, ready to turn left onto US-29. Their location is indicated by the red location pin above.
It’s hard to make out, but eastbound traffic on US-29 gets the red, giving OP the green protected arrow to turn left.
Suddenly, the driver of an orange Jeep Compass waiting in the westbound US-29 left-turn lane appears to grow frustrated when the car ahead of them does not creep into the intersection during the unprotected green, so they take matters into their own hands and make the turn anyway.

OP does their best to dodge the driver and, thankfully, everyone makes it out of the situation without incident.
“Can I understand his frustration? Yes. Would I get frustrated enough to do it? No,” one of the top comments from /u/StormBringerGT reads.
“It can be frustrating being stuck behind someone who won’t roll up into the intersection on a left turn, but damn,” /u/Trevski added.
“There are intersections near me with no protected left turn phase, and if nobody entered the intersection and waited, literally nobody would ever get to turn left,” /u/AndyTheEngr responded to a comment wrongly stating that you can’t camp out in intersections, which is not entirely true (it varies by jurisdiction)
In North Decatur, running a red light in Georgia is typically a misdemeanor traffic offense with about a $1,000 maximum possible fine and usually 3 points on your license if convicted. If the driver went around a stopped car and entered after the light turned red, they could also potentially be cited for improper passing or reckless driving depending on how aggressive it was. Local court costs and insurance increases can end up costing more than the ticket itself.
