BMW drivers honked at this motorcyclist to go faster, only to still end up crawling, stopped in traffic, like everyone else.

Snohomish area driver and Redditor /u/SnowDrifter_ shared headshaking dashcam footage from the 522 from earlier in May (May 19, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an impatient BMW driver honking at OP, the motorcyclist, to move up and, when allowed to overtake, they end up pretty much where everyone else is anyway.

Check out the pointless impatience play out below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened along the WA-522 in Snohomish just before the intersection with Paradise Lake Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is headed southbound down the 522 on his motorcycle, puttering along because traffic is backed up.

Suddenly, a driver in a gold BMW SUV honks at him to move up despite there being practically nowhere to go.

“Just creeping in traffic,” OP clarified in the comments.

“BMW goes snoofing distance from my booty and honks.”

“I’m checking around, thinking I forgot to zip up my backpack or something, couldn’t figure out what they were trying to say.”

OP pulls to the side of the road to see if there’s anything wrong, and that’s when the BMW takes its opportunity to overtake.

“So I pull over to inspect, and they gun it by while avoiding eye contact. Realized at that point they were just being a twit. Like… Buddy, you drive a 2013-2018 BMW SUV. Sit down, ya ain’t that important!”

You’d think that, with all their impatience, they’d take the emergency shoulder, but no, they continue to be stuck like everyone else.

“Them: Why aren’t you tailgating the car in front of you?!?!,” one of the top comments from /u/Marilius reads.

“BMWs own the road, we should just be grateful they allow us to drive amongst them,” /u/sugar-Pox humoursly added.

“I would’ve honked back once they were in front of me and slowed down. 🤷🏼‍♂️,” /u/W7ENK suggested.

In Washington, unnecessarily honking at a motorcyclist can be cited as improper use of a horn or part of an aggressive driving-related violation depending on the situation. Washington does not use a traditional DMV point system, but moving violations still go on your driving record and can raise insurance rates. A basic traffic infraction can carry a fine of roughly $100–$150, while related aggressive driving violations like following too closely or unsafe lane changes can cost significantly more.
