Nutjob in Ford Edge shreds his tire after throwing a massive brake check on dashcam owner, upset that they’re puttering along in the fast lane.

Genesee County commuter and Redditor /u/FryeGuy92 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in May (May 22, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an absolute nutjob in a Ford Edge flying up to OP in the fast lane, overtaking from the right, and slamming on their brakes, hard, to teach OP a lesson.

Check out the hare-brained, dangerous traffic maneuver below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened along I-475 in the vicinity of Beecher, just before the Saginaw Rd exit (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is headed northbound on the 475.

In the fast lane of a relatively empty 475, OP can be seen going 65 MPH.

The speed limit in this area is 70, so it’s safe to assume that, although it’s breaking the speed limit, the average Flint driver takes that as permission to go up to 80 MPH.

We can see a driver in a silver Ford Edge going at least 90 MPH, flying up to the rear bumper of OP, tailgating them, overtaking, and immediatly cutting them off, so much so that they practically hit OP’s front bumper.

Road raging and to teach OP a lesson, the driver in the Edge (ECX 7061) brake checks them for good measure, because why not?

Surprisingly, OP decides to try to get around them, at which point they’re blocked from passing, as is tradition for these kinds of crazy drivers.

“(I) had multiple kids in the backseat, too,” OP clarified in a reply in the comments. “At least 4 people were in that car.”

“Not only an idiot, but he needs to get his brakes serviced. Right rear locks up with not very much braking from the other 3 wheels,” the top comment from /u/South_Hat3525 reads.

“This is low credit score behavior, they will drive that vehicle until the brakes fail. I bet its last oil change was over 20k miles ago,” /u/Zwasti replied.

In Flint, Michigan (statewide rules apply), speeding fines typically range from about $100–$200+ plus court costs, depending on how far over the limit you were, and it usually adds 1–4 points to your license. Brake checking is often charged as careless driving (~3 points, roughly $100–$300+ in fines/costs) or reckless driving (~6 points, often $200–$500+ plus possible court penalties) depending on severity and officer/court interpretation. Preventing another driver from passing is usually cited as a form of hazardous or improper driving behavior, generally 2–4 points with fines commonly in the $100–$300+ range plus court costs.
