One idiot was headed East on I-78 but wanted to go west, and the other idiot was headed West and wanted to go East.

Northampton County driver and Redditor /u/Troubled_Goose shared headshaking dashcam footage from the end of Route 33 from earlier in June (June 1, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing two drivers, both not wanting to miss their exits, illegally switching to their intended exits smack dab in the middle of a gore zone.

Check out their near-miss accident in the dashcam video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on Route 33 as it terminated onto the I-78 East/West interchange (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is on Route 33, headed eastbound towards New Jersey/ New York City.

In front of him are two drivers, one in a silver Acura RDX and the other in what looks like a Lexus RX.

The driver in the westbound I-78 exit signals their intention to head east instead, but their space to do so is running out.

They’re suddenly blocked from making it in time by the RDX driver, who does a simultaneous jerk to the right plus signal.

Both end up crossing, one in front of the other, in a gore zone not meant to be driven through.

Thankfully, neither hit, but they came awfully close to.

“Not only are the cars basically the same, but the brain farts are too,” one of the top comments from /u/boognishbooger reads.

“It makes me happy that OP kept going and stranded one of the morons on the shoulder,” /u/appa-ate-momo pointed out.

“I enjoyed doing that, I hope it made them think about their actions, but I bet they will just blame me for their own incompetence,” OP replied.

In Pennsylvania, illegally driving in a gore area (the striped triangular zone at an interchange split/merge) is typically treated as a summary traffic violation, and it can come with a citation plus fines and court costs, often totaling somewhere in the $100–$300+ range depending on the specific charge and jurisdiction. It usually carries no driver’s license points by itself unless it’s combined with something like reckless driving or another moving violation. Exact penalties can vary by county and whether it’s written as “improper passing,” “disregarding traffic control,” or similar wording.
