This idiotic Tesla driver showed no signs of checking for traffic behind them when they made their sudden U-turn in a residential area.
Multnomah County-area driver and Redditor /u/Imddot shared headshaking dashcam footage from this Gresham neighborhood street from earlier in July (July 23, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a Tesla driver in their Model 3 suddenly busting a U-turn, oblivious to anyone behind them, almost causing their own T-bone accident.

The incident happened in a Wilkes East neighborhood near the intersection of 172nd and Oregon St (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP was headed north on 172nd when he and a driver in a black Tesla Model 3 both turned onto NE Oregon.
Suddenly, the driver in the Tesla slides into an opening on the right, presumably to park.
Such was not the case, as they immediatly transitioned into a U-turn, forcing OP to emergency brake to avoid t-boning them.
With tinted windows, it’s hard to gauge their reaction to suddenly seeing OP’s bumper, but it’s safe to say they were annoyed rather than surprised.
“The lack of situational awareness!” the top comment from /u/KeithFoco70 reads.
“No stereotypes were harmed in the making of this video,” /u/DrShrimpPsychology humorously added, referencing how, well, Tesla drivers are notorious for this.
“If only there were a mirror which would allow you to check if you are clear to turn and lights that signal to other drivers where you want to turn. Sadly, without such technology, the world will never be safe,” /u/sisisisi1997 sarcastically added.
In Gresham, Oregon, an unsafe or illegal U-turn can generally be cited under Oregon’s illegal U-turn law (ORS 811.365). It is a Class C traffic violation, but if the U-turn contributes to a crash, it can be elevated to a Class B traffic violation. (Oregon Legislature)
